1. How long does an appointment last and how much does it cost?

The first appointment is usually an hour, sometimes longer. Regular holistic appointments are 30 minutes. Brief appointments and adjustment-only appointments are also available. For current appointment rates, please click here.

2. Do you accept my insurance?

No, not at this time. However, many clients are able to receive reimbursement from their insurance company by submitting the receipt that we can provide. The reimbursement amount will depend on what chiropractic benefits your insurance plan offers. Also, many clients are able to apply the costs of care to an HSA account or use as a tax deduction for health care expenses.

3. Do you have sliding fees?

No. If the cost of care is a problem, mention this and Dr. Tim will discuss different ways to approach your care that will suit your specific needs.

4. Can you help me with my particular problem?

Dr. Tim is able to assist with most health problems since his skills and training are holistic in nature and cover the entire body. This includes everything from a cold or pain to chronic diseases. Please read the services page to see if your particular concern is mentioned or related to any of those in the list provided. For more specific feedback regarding a particular concern not mentioned, please contact the office to schedule a consultation.

5. Do you have a specialty?

Dr. Tim does not have a specialty but is often effective with many difficult issues where other methods have not worked. His work blends a wide range of disciplines that is very unique in the healing arts. Results relate more to the individual being well suited to his type of work versus the specific problem being matched to his work.

6. How do I know if this is going to help me?

Dr. Tim is able to help the majority of everyone that comes to him. However, there is no guarantee that you will respond to this unique type of care. The type of clients that get the best results have a strong desire to be personally involved in their health and see it as their responsibility. These individuals also appreciate natural healing methods and tend to think there is reason behind why they are hurting and enjoy exploring this. To read more about whether you are in the right place, read the second page of the paperwork. For a list of concerns he has experience helping, click here.

7. How long will it take for me to get better?

Most concerns are resolved within 6-8 weeks. Depending on the severity of the illness or injury, it may require more time. Dr. Tim will discuss the expected time frame of care and number of visits with you in the first appointment.

8. Will I have to come often and keep coming for a long time?

Typically the frequency of visits during the first few weeks is once or twice per week. Some concerns such as a disc herniation or ligament tear require a frequency of three times per week but this often only lasts for a couple of weeks. Some concerns may take months to resolve but this is less common and relates to more severe conditions. Many clients continue to work with Dr. Tim after their concern is resolved to receive the benefits of preventative care, but this is a personal choice and depends on what level of health you want to achieve.

9. Does Dr. Tim need to take x-rays to give me an adjustment?

No. Dr. Tim only recommends x-rays when he suspects a bone problem such as a fracture, similar to a medical doctor. Some chiropractic offices require x-rays to adjust clients. This is not the case for Dr. Tim’s analysis for adjustments.

10. I don’t like being cracked or having my neck twisted. Can he adjust me without doing this?

Yes, Dr. Tim has a collection of adjusting techniques that include gentle styles that don’t involve any cracking or twisting of the joints.

11. How does muscle testing work?

Muscle testing, which comes from Applied Kinesiology, is an analysis tool for gathering information from the body through the nervous system by checking for strong or weak muscles when something is tested. Meridian points from Tradition Chinese Medicine are often used to check for certain imbalances.

12. I’m not sure what to make of the medical intuitive side of his practice. Does this matter?

An open mind and willingness to work with Dr. Tim is all that is necessary for success. It is not necessary to have certain beliefs or prior knowledge of Dr. Tim’s methods. While the intuitive side of Dr. Tim’s work is quite involved, the experience of intuition is common to everyone. Phrases such as; “I have a gut feeling,” point to the familiarity of this experience. Dr. Tim simply developed this skill over many years and applies it in a systematic way to his work, very similar to how the analysis process works for in-person appointments.

13. Will I need to take a lot of supplements when I see him?

Dr. Tim’s approach with nutritional therapy primarily focuses on the client’s diet. Some problems may require more supplements initially, but these are typically used for specific needs on a short term basis. For example, Dr. Tim may recommend herbs to address an infection and once the infection is resolved, the herbs will no longer be necessary. The typical dosage for the supplements he uses can be higher than that of medication since Dr. Tim uses whole-food supplements and herbs. These types of supplements are effective at dosages measured in grams, or multiple pills per day, as compared to a medicine, which is created in a lab and is measured in milligrams, or one pill per day.

14. How can feelings and stress affect my health?

In the western world, we are trained to believe that the physical world is separate from the spiritual world. Thoughts and feelings are typically seen as the workings of chemicals in the brain or nervous system. This viewpoint is the result of the history of scientific development and religious thought in our culture. However, these two realms were never separated in all the traditional healing systems outside the western world. Thousands of years ago the Chinese found the relationships between certain emotions and organs. It is upon this base that the relationships between our thoughts, feelings, and health can begin to be understood. Dr. Tim will explore the significance of this largely untouched side of health care with you in your care. For an example that outlines the relationship between feelings and a health concern, click here.

15. I heard of a doctor that uses lasers on someone’s body. Does Dr. Tim do this?

No. Devices and tools such as lasers are common in the world of alternative doctors, especially chiropractors. While these methods may work fine for other doctors and their clients, it doesn’t suit Dr. Tim’s focus. There is a slogan from chiropractic that fits him very well; “Head, heart, and hands.” Since Dr. Tim believes that healing comes from within, he is not drawn to methods that look to emphasize or glorify a device, special method, or particular doctor. As a result, his office is designed to be comfortable and relaxed, like a room in a home. His entire focus is about emphasizing the greatness within your own heart.
